When it comes to engine rebuilds and upgrades there are a number of option available to you, starting with a basic rebuild.

Stage 1: Basic Engine Rebuild
A basic engine rebuild should be completed with quality components either from the OE or equivalent. You can specify the components you want replacing to suit your budget, but generally the basics are: crankshaft and con-rod bearings, thrust bearings, piston rings, crankshaft seals, timing belts / chains & components, valve stem seals, camshaft seals etc.

Stage 2: Blueprinting
On top of basic rebuild, the next step up is a “blueprinting” service where all the components required to bring your engine back to an as-factory condition are replaced, such as oil pump and strainer, valve guides. During a blueprint rebuild it is common for the cylinder head to be skimmed, the block to be re-bored and crankshaft to either be polished or ground.

Stage 3: Performance Modifications
The next progression from Blueprinting would be performance modifications. This includes (but isn’t limited to) raised compression for N/A engines, performance camshafts, big valve conversions, lightened flywheels, ported and polished cylinder head’s, throttle body/bike carb/weber conversions, etc. The amount of work which can go into this stage of build is all down to budget and your ideas – the image above shows a 1968 Mustang 6 cylinder engine with a custom machined cylinder head to accommodate a large aluminium plenum and a pair of twin downdraught Webber 38 carbs.

Station MotorSport Ltd offers all 3 of these types of services and can advise you on which is your best route. Most classic and prestige vehicles will require a rebuild or blueprinting service at some point in their life.

During the work Station MotorSport Ltd will keep you informed of what is required, the stage that the work is at and can provide photos to you for vehicle history portfolios.
